Having gathered all relevant candidate information from the resume/application, interview, testing (if applicable) and reference checks, you need to make the final hiring decision. To assist you in this decision, ask yourself the following questions about your final candidate(s):
- Does the candidate have the skills and knowledge necessary to perform the job?
- Does the candidate have the traits necessary to succeed at the job?
- Will the candidate be a good addition to your team? Ask yourself, “Would I like to be around this person?”
- Is the candidate motivated and trainable?
The objective is to hire someone who appeals to you. If not, do not hire anyone yet. Keep looking.
