Making the hiring decision

Having gathered all relevant candidate information from the resume/application, interview, testing (if applicable) and reference checks, you need to make the final hiring decision.  To assist you in this decision, ask yourself the following questions about your final candidate(s):

  1. Does the candidate have the skills and knowledge necessary to perform the job?
  2. Does the candidate have the traits necessary to succeed at the job?
  3. Will the candidate be a good addition to your team? Ask yourself, “Would I like to be around this person?”
  4. Is the candidate motivated and trainable?

The objective is to hire someone who appeals to you.  If not, do not hire anyone yet.  Keep looking.
